For a roofing material takeoff, we measured the roof area from the blueprints and then calculated the number of asphalt shingles, rolls of underlayment, and linear feet of drip edge needed. I also accounted for 10% waste on the shingles and added extra for the valleys and hips. The final list came out to 42 squares of shingles, 6 rolls of felt, and 210 feet of drip edge.
